Amy Townsend
Community and Student Care Worker
Teaching and Pastoral
BTh (SMBC)
Amy was born and raised in Sydney. Her vocational ministry journey began when she was convicted by Jesus’ words: “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few” (Matt 9:37). In response, Amy gave up her secular career in fitness and the performing arts to pursue theological study at SMBC, alongside a full-time ministry apprenticeship (MTS).
Amy then spent several years working as the Director of Membership and Ministry at Grace City Church, while also preaching and speaking in a variety of ministry contexts including conferences, training events, and schools. Amy is passionate about preaching God’s word, mentoring women, and training gospel workers. She is thrilled to be part of the Community and Student Care Team at SMBC where she can support students on their journey. Amy also works part-time as an Assistant Pastor at St Mark’s Anglican Church Freshwater.
Amy is married to Jesse and they have two children. Together, they love the beach, good films, and hosting friends (and strangers!) in their home.
