Senior Lecturer - Theology

BSc (Hons) (UNSW), MDiv (SMBC/ACT), ThM (Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary), PhD (University of Aberdeen).

Prior to SMBC:

Ian worked as a secondary school teacher at Sydney Grammar School (1998-2001) and then as an ordained pastor at Trinity Baptist Church (Southern Baptist Convention), New Haven, CT (2008-2011).

Historical Theology, especially the theological and ecclesiological impact of the eighteenth century transatlantic evangelical revivals on contemporary evangelicalism; Baptist ecclesiology.

Personal:

Ian is a dual Australian-American citizen, and has been married to Pam (a native Bostonian) since 2003.  They have three children (Lachlan, Phoebe and Silas) and attend Petersham Baptist Church.  In his spare time he enjoys long distance running and following the Boston Red Sox. Ian has been a member of the Evangelical Theological Society since 2007 and is a member of Phi Alpha Chi, the Scholastic Honor Society of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He is also a Research Fellow at the Jonathan Edwards Centre – Africa (University of the Free State, South Africa).
