“The SMBC community encouraged me, both inside and outside of the classroom, to grow in my relationship with God and my understanding of His plans and purposes for His world.”
– Leila, Diploma of Theology

Local suburb
Our main residential Croydon campus is leafy and low-rise in the Inner West suburbs of Sydney. The Inner West is famous its cafes, parks, and bay walks. There are a variety of high quality local churches, shops and schools nearby.
You have access to local public transport, including buses and trains, with Croydon train station a short 20min walk or 7min bike ride.
Free on-site parking
All students living on campus receive a free on-site car space. Your allocated space is reserved all year round, protected on private property.
Additionally, there is ample free street parking around campus.
Cooked lunches and dinners
Food is a central community space for SMBC. We enjoy meals together, especially the community-wide lunchtime. For married couples living on campus, spouses and children are invited to join the community for lunches and dinners.
You will receive cooked lunches and dinners throughout semester periods. There are shared kitchen spaces for holiday periods, with many students travelling during the break.
Facilities and utilities
You will be living on-site, a short walk across campus to classes, SMBC library, community dining hall, faculty offices, community and study spaces.
There are on-site facility managers to respond to any requests or needs. Accommodation payments cover all utility costs including:
- Utilities, water, and electricity
- Wi-Fi and IT support
- Laundry & dryer facilities
Community groups
There are wide variety of SMBC community groups. These groups form organically around the mutual interests of each cohort. Past groups have included weekly sport (soccer, touch football, frisbee), running, snorkeling, art & creativity, music, books and movies, board games, casual study, walk up evangelism, and social groups.
Families with Children Accommodation
We have housing accommodation for about 11 families in and around the Croydon campus. Most accommodation is either on campus, or on Badminton road, backing directly onto campus.
There are a variety of freestanding fully enclosed houses, with multiple bedrooms, kitchen, laundry, driveway and front and back gardens.
These houses provide more private space for children while still being connected to the campus community. They are an ideal space for family life, with easy access to the community and the opportunity to practice ministry and hospitality.
