March 2019 Postgraduate Unit
What does it mean to be justified by God? What is the ground of justification? What are the fruits of justification? Where do ‘works’ fit into the picture? Is justification by faith really the article by which the church stands or falls? What difference does it make to personal assurance? What is its relationship to holiness? How does it impact prayer, preaching, evangelism and pastoral counselling?
Come and explore the riches of the doctrine of justification as it is revealed in Scripture (particularly in the letters of Paul), has been understood in the history of Christian thought (particularly at the time of the Reformation), features in contemporary discussion (particularly since ‘The Sanders’ Revolution’), and applies to the Christian life and pastoral ministry.

The Master of Arts (Theology/Ministry) is designed to provide you with opportunities to develop your ministry skills and facilitate further theological contemplation. Based on coursework, a feature of the Master of Arts (MA) is the opportunity to do assessments that have direct relevance to your current ministry involvement.
Most MA units are completed in intensive study mode. This includes a week of face-to-face lectures and discussions at SMBC, with pre-reading beforehand and assignments completed afterwards at home. A majority of MA students are active in ministry, whether in Australia or overseas, providing an ideal classroom environment to benefit from the experiences of others and build networks for ministry support.
