Northern Beaches Semester 2 2017

Northern Beaches Semester 2 2017

WHAT: Understanding the Big Picture of the Bible: Introduction to Biblical Theology (BB301/501)
WHEN: Mondays 6.45-9.30pm 31 July - 13 November 2017
WHERE: Narrabeen Baptist Church Education Centre, 13 Grenfell Street, Narrabeen 2101
LECTURER: Dr Alan Thompson

One of the joys of being a Christian is reading God's word and growing in our understanding of what it means to know the Lord Jesus and serve him. One of the challenges that soon becomes apparent, and one that many Christians of all stages face, is how to apply the various parts of the Bible to the Christian life. Wouldn't it have been great to walk with Jesus along that Emmaus road and hear him explain ‘what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself’ (Luke 24:27)?

In this unit we’ll study the richness, diversity and unity of the Bible and think through how it fits together. We'll discover how major themes such as covenant and sacrifice develop throughout the Bible. We'll see how major events and structures in earlier parts of Scripture anticipated what was to come, and so deepen our understanding of our salvation in Christ and strengthen our confidence in the faithfulness of God.
