*Please note that the workshop dates have changed from the previously advertised dates in May*
Learning to preach is a lifelong work. For those in full-time ministry there is little opportunity for informed feedback and fine-tuning of your sermons. SMBC is offering a three day preaching workshop with David Cook and Alasdair Paine. The focus will be on 'Preaching in a Pastoral Context' (Philippians). Both David and Alasdair are experienced in pastoral ministry and know the pressures of preaching regularly.
This is an opportunity to step outside of your normal routine for a few days of personalised input on your preaching. Places are limited to 30 people only for this very hands-on workshop, so register early to avoid disappointment!
For enquiries, please contact our Administration Centre on 02 9747 4780 or email
Note: cost includes morning tea and lunch.
Alasdair Paine is senior minister at the church of St Andrew the Great, Cambridge – the university city in which he was first challenged as a student by the message of Christ. After graduate studies in Colorado USA, he returned to England, and to the staff of Eton College, where he became Head of the Geography Department. Alasdair then trained for ordination at Oxford’s Wycliffe Hall. From there he became assistant minister at St Leonard’s Church Exeter, and later was to lead the work of Christ Church, Westbourne - until 2011, when Cambridge claimed him back. You can catch his recent sermons here and blog here. He is also the author of 'The First Chapters of Everything'.
David Cook has extensive experience in training men and women in faithful and engaging preaching. He is a regular speaker at Christian conventions and preacher-training seminars throughout Australia and overseas. Formerly Principal of Sydney Missionary and Bible College (SMBC), David has authored and contributed to several books on preaching.
