Rev Dr Elliot Ku

Role at SMBC:

As part of the Centre for Preaching and Pastoral Ministry and the Christian Thought team, Elliot lectures in practical theology and Christian thought.

Prior to SMBC:

Elliot trained to be a high school teacher (History and ESL) at the University of New South Wales. After doing a ministry apprenticeship, he studied at Christ College in preparation for ordained ministry in the Presbyterian Church of Australia. Since then, he has served as a pastor for over a decade. In 2024, Elliot and his wife, Sherilyn, had the privilege of helping lead a team of faithful men and women in church revitalisation ministry.

He has served as an Adjunct Lecturer at Christ College in Sydney and Equip Seminary in Malaysia. He completed his DMin in pastoral ministry and is currently undertaking a PhD in theology, exploring the intersection between disability and missiology.

Personal:

Elliot is married to Sherilyn and they have one daughter. They are part of The Well Church, where Elliot has been serving as the Lead Pastor. As a family, they love exploring local and accessible parks, having people over at their home, and serving Jesus together. They are also a musical family: Sherilyn plays the piano, their daughter sings, and Elliot listens. In his spare time, Elliot enjoys training Muay Thai and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu.
