Overview
Luke 18:31-43 contains two important episodes in the life and ministry of Jesus as he journeys toward Jerusalem. Both relate to the issue of sight. In the first, despite the clarity of Jesus’ prediction of all that will happen to him, the disciples cannot ‘see’ it – ultimately because “its meaning was hidden from them.” In the second, the blind man is given back his sight by Jesus. What makes the difference? Faith. The blind man believed that Jesus could give him what he asked for, and so he received.
