Your holistic formation is integrated into all our courses and community activities – Theological, Spiritual and Ministry Formation. These three areas overlap and are intertwined as God shapes you through his Word.
Theological Formation
God wants us to grow in the knowledge of Him. We pursue deep and transformative biblical knowledge, understanding, and application.
Theology is the systematic study of God through His inspired living Word, the Bible. At its core, theology seeks to answer fundamental questions: Who is God? How does He relate to the world? What does this mean for how we live? Our formation grounds students in rigorous biblical study to cultivate minds and hearts for God, establishing theological frameworks to integrate biblical wisdom into everyday life and ministry.
Spiritual Formation
Spiritual Formation and character are key qualifications for Christian leadership. We want to cultivate a heart like Jesus’ heart, not to be served but to serve.
SMBC pursues Christlike character, godly obedience, courageous faith, and a deepening love for God and neighbour, recognising that these are of the utmost importance for life and ministry.
Ministry Formation
Ministry Formation gives you the practical skills to grow God’s kingdom through teaching, discipleship, and pastoral care.
SMBC trains you in practical skills through specialised units – preaching, pastoral skills, cross-cultural communication, church planting, and evangelism. Our community events give opportunities for students to practice their preaching, learn every week from visiting global missionaries, and an annual mission trip to local and global churches.
A Pathway For More
Our courses build on each other: this means you have opportunities to extend your study path. Short courses connect directly into longer degrees, so you can discover your path as you study.
For example, our Certificates form the first half of a Diploma, and a Diploma counts as the first year of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
