Diploma of Ministry

Admission requirements: ATAR of 65+ or evidence of academic suitability

The SMBC Diploma of Ministry (DipMin) is a great place to begin your theological studies and start testing where God might be preparing you to serve. At AQF level 5, it’s ideal for those without an undergraduate degree. It can be studied full-time or part-time.

The Diploma will give you essential biblical foundations (Old Testament and New Testament) plus allows you to focus on ministry and missions units (subjects) of your choice.

Studying the Diploma full-time will also provide you with the opportunity to concurrently do the SMBC Certificate in Bible and Mission (CBM). The CBM gives you access to all the benefits of SMBC’s expertise in spiritual formation, cross-cultural mission and pastoral ministry.  It includes some extra classes, community activities, conferences and College Mission.

The Diploma also opens up pathways to further study, for example, the Associate Degree of Ministry, Bachelor of Ministry and Bachelor of Theology. It is the equivalent of the first year (full-time) of these longer degrees.

An early exit point is the Undergraduate Certificate of Ministry (which requires 48 credit points).

The Diploma will give you a basic competency to serve in a local church or para-church ministry, or use your existing profession or trade on the mission field. Further study, at degree level, is usually required for full-time vocational ministry.
