Pastoral Skills and Methods (PC203/403)

2017 Semester 2 Monday Evening Unit

Ministering to people is challenging - whether you're in a paid role or volunteer, a minister in a church or elsewhere. To practice Christian pastoral care well requires wisdom, courage and patience. This unit offers a model of Christian pastoral care that is grounded in a biblical and theological framework.

We’ll identify and discuss issues relevant to those who practice pastoral care and offer strategies for self-care. We’ll take a broad look at general pastoral skills, as well as cover some specific and challenging issues within the areas of mental and physical health, church conflict, relationships, abuse and death.

NOTE: The Introductory Certificate in Christian StudiesDiploma of Ministry and Graduate Diploma of Divinity can potentially be completed by studying evening units only.
