Other Writings (English)
Description
Want to explore in more depth the thorny issues raised in Paul’s letter to the Corinthians and the theological depth of Hebrews? How did the values in 1st century Corinth impact the Corinthian church and their view of the Christian life and spiritual gifts? Why did the writer to the Hebrews warn them about falling away?
In this unit we will see how the Gospel applies to the Christian life and church. These letters to 1st century Christians continue to speak to us and our church life today. We will focus on specific chapters in 1 Corinthians (chapters 1-4, 12-15) and Hebrews (chapters 1-4) and we’ll explore themes such as wisdom and the cross, spiritual gifts and the church, as well as the significance of Jesus’ humanity and the importance of persevering in the faith.
