Chaplaincy in Educational Settings (DM414i/614i) SEMI-INTENSIVE

2018 Semester 1 Monday evening lectures plus a 3-day intensive

Chaplains have played a significant role for many years in sharing and modelling the Christian faith in places of education in this country. With much recent media discussion about the role of chaplaincy, this unit will give you the opportunity to explore the practice and theology of chaplaincy.

We’ll look at chaplaincy in a range of educational settings – primary, secondary and tertiary; state and private sectors –  as well as assisting you in evaluating models for effective Christian education in a chaplaincy context. Pastoral care, issues facing young people today, classroom practice, ministering to staff, and evangelism to children are just some of the chaplaincy-related topics that we will cover.

This semi-intensive unit is for those aspiring to be chaplains or those wanting to be better equipped in their ministry with school aged children.

NOTE: The Introductory Certificate in Christian StudiesDiploma of Ministry or Graduate Diploma of Divinity can potentially be completed by studying evening units only.
