Master of Divinity (MDiv)
The MDiv is a first theological degree which would suit any graduate wishing to prepare for full-time pastoral, evangelistic or Bible teaching ministry in Australia and overseas.
The study of the Old and New Testaments comprises approximately half of the course. You will learn New Testament Greek and study the New Testament in the original language. You will also have the option of completing Biblical Hebrew leading to study of the Old Testament in Hebrew. The remaining half of the degree includes a broad introduction to church history and theology, together with elective units in the pastoral and mission areas. You must complete either an 8 credit point 8,000 word project or a unit assessed as a ‘Capstone Experience’.
A graduate with a MDiv having achieved a Grade Point Average (GPA) of more than 2.0 and a Credit, or better grade, in a project may become candidates for the research-based Master of Theology. Graduates with a GPA better than 3.0 and a Distinction, or better grade, in a project may become candidates for doctoral programs - Doctor of Ministry, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Theology.
This is a 3 year full-time or maximum 9 year part-time course. If you choose the part-time study option it is strongly recommended to factor a full-time component (at least 2 semesters) into your course of study.
A non-theological undergraduate degree from an Australian university (or equivalent).
The MDiv requires the completion of 96 credit points at 500-600 level (24 graduate level units).
